JPEG, PNG, and WebP are cleaned byte for byte. Other formats fall back to a re-encode.
The camera block. GPS coordinates, the exact second the shutter fired, the phone or camera model, lens, and often a body serial number.
Editing and publishing blocks. Captions, keywords, credit lines, the name of whoever last touched the file, and edit history.
A private area each manufacturer fills with whatever it wants. Serial numbers, focus points, and face detection results all live here.
A small copy of the picture, saved separately. It is not always updated when you crop or edit, so it can still show the original frame.
Motion photos hide an entire video after the end of the image. Most strippers copy it straight through. CleanPic cuts it off.
Portrait and HDR modes can pack a second full-size image into the same file, complete with its own metadata.
One thing CleanPic cannot reach.
If you shoot RAW, your editor may keep its metadata in a separate
.xmp sidecar file sitting next to the photo instead of inside
it. CleanPic only ever sees the file you hand it, so a sidecar is left
untouched. Delete it yourself, or leave it behind when you share.
