Killarney to Kenmare

A scenic drive through the national park, ending with dinner in charming Kenmare.

Suggested itinerary

  • Depart Killarney in the morning and park at Kate Kearney’s Cottage (20 min drive)
  • Walk/ride Gap of Dunloe to Wishing Bridge & back (1 h round-trip on foot). You can stretch this into a longer walk if you have time. The hiking path goes much farther and is scenic the whole way.
  • Grab lunch at Kate Kearney’s Cottage. This is a charming cafe with a full bar with outside seating and beautiful scenery. 
  • Afterwards, drive through Killarney National Park toward Kenmare. Stop to take in the many scenice spots. Highlights include the Torc Waterfall hike (30 min) and the Ladies View lookout (easy turnoff for panoramas).
  • Arrive Kenmare and browse the artisan shops 
  • Dinner at Foley’s on Henry Street or any of the many charming spots on the main strip. Afterwards enjoy live music.
