Italy has a way of turning ordinary moments into postcard memories: cafe bar, a surprise view down a stone alley, and a late dinner that somehow becomes the best meal of your trip.
Suggested itinerary
- Early start: Colosseum + Roman Forum + Palatine Hill. The Roman Forum is a great spot to walk at your own pace and take in all the ancient ruins.
- Capitoline Hill viewpoint stop.
- Lunch break nearby - pizza al taglio or suppli.
- Pantheon - reserve entry slot if required. This was one of my favorite stops. It was more impressive than I thought it would be.
- Gelato or espresso reset .
- Trevi Fountain .
- Choose a neighborhood wander - Monti or Trastevere.
- Dinner: pick your pasta mission - cacio e pepe, carbonara, or amatriciana.
- If you can fit it in book ahead and visit the Vatican and Sistine Chapel.
