Rome Essentials

Hit the heavy hitters with smart timing, then spend the rest of the day doing Rome’s best activity: aimless strolling with snacks.

Italy has a way of turning ordinary moments into postcard memories: cafe bar, a surprise view down a stone alley, and a late dinner that somehow becomes the best meal of your trip.

Suggested itinerary

  • Early start: Colosseum + Roman Forum + Palatine Hill. The Roman Forum is a great spot to walk at your own pace and take in all the ancient ruins.
  • Capitoline Hill viewpoint stop.
  • Lunch break nearby  - pizza al taglio or suppli.
  • Pantheon - reserve entry slot if required. This was one of my favorite stops. It was more impressive than I thought it would be.
  • Gelato or espresso reset .
  • Trevi Fountain .
  • Choose a neighborhood wander - Monti or Trastevere.
  • Dinner: pick your pasta mission  - cacio e pepe, carbonara, or amatriciana.
  • If you can fit it in book ahead and visit the Vatican and Sistine Chapel.
